Bitsy leaves early sunday morning for sunny sunny mexico! So excited, it's going to be an amazing trip and a long awaited escape. However, bitsy's phone will NOT be going along for the adventure, as we have decided to give it a break as well :) Email will be checked a few times, so the fastest way to get ahold of dear lil bitz is to zip over an email.

Lots of luv, see you soon!

City Of Roses

Wow. Three weeks of being almost completely unplugged from anything online. Feels strange to be back, I actually liked the feeling of being free. I won't be online very often anymore, just enough to keep updated. I learned that I'm a much happier person when the internet is on the way back burner in my life, so 'm going to try and keep it that way.

Anyway... Two weeks ago- almost three now- I ventured on a little road trip with my partner in crime, Lulu. It was our second road trip, the first being for Hotrodorama last summer. We were way overdue for another.

Late Saturday night we decided we needed to get out of Seattle for a day and proptly made plans to get on the road at 8:30 the next morning. We had no idea where we were going just that we were driving south and seeing where we ended up.

Sunday morning, I'm met with a wonderful sight:

And we're off! Things are looking good...

..until...

...Ten minutes on the road and we find ourselves lost in South Seattle... Great.

What seemed like hours (15 min) we were back on the road, not going to let a little fog keep us in Seattle!

First stop, Olympia. We were feeling a little political and decided to do a drive through of the Capitol. It looked so pretty in the fog.

What we were really looking for was a gas station, but the city center didn't seem to have any- One more exit down, we were in luck. Time to fill up with gas and a pile of roadtrip junk food.

We got a good laugh out of my antifreeze pee too.

Gas tank filled, tires and engine fluids checked, junkfood in hand- We were ready to hit the road. The decision had been made, Portland- Here we come.

We broke out of the fog as we approached Oregon and found Portland to be bright and sunny! First thing on our list- buy sunglasses.
After a few stores in the Pearl District, we had both found sunglasses and were in love with this beautiful city. A little clod and hungry, we made our way down W. Burnside and found ourselves at the most wonderful place in exsistance.
Voodoo Donuts.

Appearantly, we weren't the only ones who felt this way.

I decided while waiting in line, that I was going to not only get a donut- but get a box of them. We had to make our time invested in line worth it.

I was overwheled with warm fuzziness as soon as we got inside. I could live in this tiny little piece of heaven. We picked out our half-dozen- an Old Dirty Bastard (raised donut with chocolate frosting, crumbled oreos and swirled PB on top- My favorite!), Maple Blunt (cinn&sugar with one end dipped in maple frosting), Portland Creme (creme filled-Lulu's favorite), Blood filled Voodoo Doll (raspberry filled with choc frosting-shaped as a voodoo doll with a pretzel stick through its heart), M&M covered, and then the mystery purple one. Turns out to be a Grape Ape (covered with grape pixie stick powder- um, yeah.)

Once we got our pink box of magic,

we headed over Stumptown to match our donut meal with a soy chai.

We found a comfy seat in the back and attacked the little pink box... ;)

Yummy!

So now for directions, thanks to my trusty phone and google maps...

We were back on our shopping mission.

We walked around and explored for a bit as we found our way back to the car, made some friends at vintage store and got a list of more great places to stop by before we headed home that day.

We made our way over to E. Burnside for some amazing vintage shops and a great little oddity store.

Then over to E. Hawthorne to finish up our day.
We both ended up with some great finds.

Last stop before we headed home was to buy ourselves a beer baby- and secure it for the trip home.

I knew the car seat would be of some use.

Our mission for the way home was to find a cute roadside diner- this took us bit longer then expected. I really want a book on cute themed roadside diners of America. They are the backbone of this country and they are a dying art!!!
Anyway somewhere near Centralia WA we found a diner that passed our credetials- or maybe we were just tired of looking anymore.
The Little Red Barn.

It had all the diner expectations.

Greasy food included.

It wasn't quite what I had in mind, but overall it was pretty great.

So that was our day in Portland. Amazing.
We decided on our way home that our Portland trip would be a monthly thing- or at least every other month. We are in love with that city: the people, the stores, the food and the no sales tax!

We will be back soon!
